Prof. Kenechi Anderson Uwakwe

Prof. Kenechi Anderson Uwakwe hails from the Umuezemma royal family of Opuoma, in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State, born into the family of HRH Eze W.A.C Uwakwe and late HRH Ugoeze H.N Uwakwe.

Among others he attended Community Primary School, Ilupeju, Lagos, Federal Govt College, Okigwe, obtained MBBS from the Abia State University, Uturu and had post-graduate (Residency) training at then Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.

He obtained the Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians, he is also a Fellow of Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria. Other institutions attended include University ofWashington Atlanta, USA and University of Witswatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Currently the CMD, Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu. A two times Dean, Faculty of Clinical Medicine, Imo State University, Owerri, a three times HOD of Community Medicine.

He is a postgraduate examiner with the West African College of Physicians and appointed undergraduate examiner with six other Nigerian universities (federal, state and private) at different periods. Has been appointed a member of accreditation teams at postgraduate (within and outside the country) and undergraduate levels by various regulatory agencies. Has been head/member of various committees in different institutions and bodies.

 

Has work experience from public and private sectors. Has worked in different consulting / research capacities for various bodies including NACA, UNFPA, BMGF, WHO, UNICEF, IMPRINT, GLRA, IHVN, CCCRN,CARITAS et cetera. His research interest is in epidemiology, especially of communicable diseases and has over ninety peer reviewed articles.
