To strengthen critical care and improve patient outcomes, Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH) has commissioned a modern Oxygen Plant within its Orlu campus — a major milestone in the hospital’s commitment to high-quality, life-saving healthcare.

The new oxygen plant ensures a steady, reliable supply of medical-grade oxygen to support patients requiring supplemental oxygen therapy, especially those with respiratory distress, chronic illnesses, and critical emergency conditions. This infrastructure upgrade enhances the hospital’s capacity to manage respiratory emergencies, surgical cases, intensive care needs, and other clinical scenarios where oxygen therapy is essential.
Delivered through strategic health sector investments by the Imo State Government under the 3R Initiative, the oxygen plant represents a significant enhancement of IMSUTH’s clinical services — helping to reduce treatment delays, lower dependency on external oxygen sources, and improve survival outcomes for patients in need. Health experts and community members have hailed the project as a transformative boost to the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
With this facility in place, IMSUTH continues to uphold its mission of delivering compassionate, modern, and accessible medical care for all patients — from critical emergencies to complex clinical needs.
